how do i tighten up my golden doodle’s skin?

my mother is moving in with me and, at my insistence, bringing along her golden doodle who’s 17mo old. she bought the dog against my advice because a couple of her grandkids are *deadly* allergic to other animals. she was totally devastated when it turned out to be WAY too much dog for a senior with medical conditions. my mom was told by the breeder that loosey would be "small to medium – maximum 35lbs".

HAH!

Loosey turned out to be quite a bit larger than my mom expected and WAY too much energy. the jumping, chewing, barking, etc, was impossible for my mother to control so the dog spent much of her life in a crate, only being let out for a few minutes at a time to "do her business". as a result, Loosey gained so much weight she literally looked like a curly-coated pig, complete with waddle. i tried to walk her and it was a fiasco – the dog couldn’t go even half a block without having to stop and sit down for a bit and forget doggy things like jumping up onto park benches or running up the stairs.

months of lecturing my mother and finally threatening to take the dog from her finally got her to get someone to walk the dog on a quasi-regular basis, stop locking her in the crate all the time, and stop leaving full bowls of crap dog food lying around. Loosey has lost weight and is now about 65lbs or so. it’s to the point you can *almost* feel her ribs (you still have to dig for them through the fat pad around her torso) but her skin!

i’m not kidding: i’m going to a circus and have her billed as "the incredible melting dog" because when she lies down, it literally puddles on the floor! when she walks, there are large, loose folds between torso and hind legs and there’s a flap of skin running down underneath the length of her body from chest to stomach. my mom thinks it’s "adorable" but i find it deplorable. it makes me angry to see it because it was all so unnecessary and so easily prevented.

does anyone have experience with this? given that she’s still young, will her skin tighten up with a proper raw diet and daily exercise? i am a devout walker – if i don’t walk my own dog at least 6 miles a day, he’s bouncing off the ceiling. if it’s too hot to walk, we go to one of the local water bodies (can’t walk 5min without falling into a river or lake where i live) and swim. Loosey doesn’t know how to swim but i expect it’ll be easy enough to teach her as both goldens and poodles are water dogs.

will massage help tighten up her skin?

any other ideas?
skipper – hey, troll: try reading the question before you take out your lack of social life on me while sitting in your mother’s basement. furthermore, where did i say a goldendoodle was a breed? i specially state the dog is half poodle and half golden. doorknob.
btw: it wasn’t a byb, either – the breeder breeds goldendoodles for families with medical problems that require dogs that are less allergenic than the ordinary.
i don’t have "body issues" regarding the dog’s weight – i have no problem at all with dogs that are *supposed* to be bullet-shaped, such as the british bulldog. but NO dog should be allowed to get that overweight. would you feel the same way about a child carrying massive excess weight? appreciating ppl for their natural beauty is all well and good – but what is "natural" about a morbidly obese puppy or child?

there is nothing you can do but appreciate the dog how it is now … when humans lose a ton of weight, their skin hangs too and requires plastic surgery which i do not think they do on dogs – yet :O) i think you should find a way to adopt your mom’s favorable impression and not be so shallow about how the dog looks … the dog is healthier now and is that not the most important thing … dog’s do not have body image issues, but you might :O)

What Tv Show is this?

I remember this Tv show when i was a kid, and I want to know the shows name. It was art show where this man, he was older, and he taught kids how to draw, and he’d go out the house and there’d be a pad where he had a doodle and he had to finish it. And at the end there will be a Wall of fame where kids of young ages had their drawings. I think the guy’s name was pepe in the show, but im not sure. If any one know what i’m talking about, please help me remember what it was called. lol.

having a hard time getting 7yr old york-doodle to pee outside, and not inside on pads.?

we adopted Benji, who was very dirty, matted hair, almost unable to walk. from a lady who tried her best to take care of him. she didn’t take him out of the apt , 4yrs,for fear of him running away, once he did.
Anyway. we took him home, hubby gave him a bath, dried him off, started looking at him, his nails were all curled under the paws, his pads were crumbling, so when we walked him outside, he couldn’t walk on concrete, just on the grass. i did cut his nails as best as i could, he was good with me doing it. when i clipped his hair, noticed his eye was infected. Hubby took him to vet. med in eye. doing pretty good, almost finished. he is very much over weight. She said he’s supposed to be 12-15 pounds, he’s 30! put him on a diet, so we got the diet food. we’ve had him for 4 weeks, and he has lost quite a few pounds, just by walking, and eating the diet food. what he eats of it. which is not that much. he does want the snacks. she fed him snacks, maybe the reason why the weight gain.
Anyway. he was pad trained. she gives us the pads. Hubby and I are outside people, and have tried to get him to use outside.
one day we had him out all day, till night, he never peed, but as soon as we came in.boom, right to the pads and went! same with the poo.
i have read many answers of how to get him to go out side. and i will be trying them out. ill let u know the results.
im glad i found this site, thanks for writing in.

Congrats on getting you’re dog !
Its always best when you rescued them too. We rescued a CC Powder Puff. He was very matted and knotty, and grossly underweight. His owner did love him, but he just didn’t know how to take care of a dog. But we’ve fixed him up, and hes fine now (:
Anyway, i agree with you, putting you’re dog outside to pee is better then using Puppy pads.
All you have to do is train him.
It’s abit unfair to punish him, where he’s been taught to use the puppy pads for 4 years so…
Next time he uses the puppy pads, put the pad outside, where you want him to go, and put him outside too. When he does pee&poop outside, reward him with treats, toy’s ect…. & he will eventually get the message.
Good luck.x

how do you get crayon off from an aqua doodle pad?

My daughter just got the aquadoodle pad and she couldn’t resist using crayon on it

The safest to use on ANY unwanted crayon mark is plain ol’ toothpaste. Just rub into crayon mark and then wipe off with a wet cloth..no soap or chemicals. I’ve used it on many different surfaces with no damage and great results.

is there a website where i can create like graphic designs, or e-cards for free?

not like a doodle pad, but something close with fonts and stuff like that.

no i don’t think that there is something for free these days
u have to pay 4 everything ….

How do I stop my dog from attacking my weewee pad?

So lately my 4 1/2 month cotton doodle (half coton de tulear and poodle) has been attacking the wee wee pad and when hes done the bits of it are everywhere. Since he has no wee wee pad hes got no where to pee and so when I come home there’s pee everywhere and and poo in the kitchen. We’ve tried domestic training with a cage but it hasn’t been working. Please help me!

crate train him!

the easiest way to do this is to put him in the crate with some blankets and pillows, and make sure they’re washable… Then leave him in there at night or whenever you aren’t home, he will learn that this is his bed and have a natural instinct not to pee or poo in there.

As for the wee pad there is no real way to make him not do this, my dog did it too. It’s just because he’s bored and puppies like to destroy things, especially paper things.

If you don’t want to leave him crated you could try leaving out a ton of toys in hopes that he won’t get bored, but most likely you will have to crate him, at least until he learns that pottying is for out doors only.

How do I improve drawing anime/manga faster?

I don’t exactly need a tutorial ‘cos I know how to draw it already and I think I’m starting to develop my own style. Thing is, I was always drawing small since I was little. Anyways I do constantly practice day by day, whether it’s a doodle, or a big drawing I make on a sketch pad, but I’ve also been wondering how others my age seem to improve faster. There are probably times I don’t draw ‘cos it isn’t my only hobby but isn’t that true for all? Anyways, my proportions and anatomy sucks bad XD Anime is supposed to be realistic and I know that it’s not all that right with proportion but the experts of course studied that first >< Oh, and I am also having a hard time with the hands and feet as well as folds in clothes (unless I’m overestimating the way people do folds of their clothes and that I’m actually doing enough of it, just, not ‘correctly’.) I guess different poses and angles are also what I need to improve on, and basically, I still need to know how to express a drawing in that it’s in its own 3D environment that is expressed at 2D. That one’s hard eh? Perhaps to be good at drawing anime, I should look at other forms and styles of art and maybe learn something from all those different types and perspectives? Any resources you might like to share would be very much appreciated ^___^ Thanks!
I always tried to draw anime from memory, and never do I copy for practice (laziness, actually..), which I assume a lot of people seem to do.

But I don’t want to do that -.-

Ha ha, Don’t worry about it! What I seem to notice that for drawing, once you reach that certain level your drawing gets REALLY better faster. You say you are starting to develop your own style right? Well, based on that, I say you’re on the right track.

What I would recommend is that you might want to buddy up with someone your level of drawing or better. One problem that most artists have is by the time that they look over their work for any mistakes that their eyes are so used to the drawing that they don’t see the mistakes until later.

Another way to fix this is to turn the paper and look at the drawing backward.(you might have to hold it toward the light to even see it) It’s still the same drawing but since you turn it backward, you "trick" your eye into seeing it as a completely different drawing, so OMG the mistakes starts popping out.

You might want to take an art class to get better as well. Now art class has a reputation that it’s for people who can’t draw but that is not true. Art class is there to help you get better faster! Imagine all the time you would save, This will save you from some common pitfall that most artist make. Now Most art teachers can’t help you draw anime persay, but they can help you with anatomy proportion, prespective, background, coloring all the other things that you need. Of course, there are bad art teacher so be careful.

Here’s some help on anatomy, hands spread out (like a high five) always is as big as your face. (but in anime they sometime make it bigger for empathsis.) as for fingers, your thumb is not in the same row as your other 4 fingers, So when drawing it, it starts about a "inch" down from the main row. (commonsense I know, please don’t be annoyed with me! I just notice that most beginners draw the thumbs next to the index.)

As for drawing at different angles, I don’t really know, I mean I know how I do it, I visuallize the person and draw it, but I don’t know how to explain it. beside just eyeballed it.

helps a lot of people. I heard it through a friend and looked it over. the hand tutorial and the cloth tutorial are pretty helpful.

What does doodling while on the phone mean?

So, while watching one of the best shows ever, Daria, Mrs Morgendorffer was doodling on a pad of paper while on the phone with her sister, and she was obviously discontent. I often find pads of paper that my mom doodled on while talking on the phone. Is she frustrated when she does this one the phone?
or is she jealous, because it turns out Mrs Morgendorffer was jealous.
