Where can I find a Labradoodle in Washington State?

I’m looking to find a Labradoodle dog in Washington state. My goal is to find one for under $500 and this is proving difficult. I would be willing to send for the dog if I find a dog I like a lot in another state, but my preference is to find one within Washington. Any suggestions?

No retpuable breeder will EVER breed a mutt and slap on a FANCY NAME SUCH AS LABRDOODLE. USE THE PROPER TERM-LABRADOR X POODLE AND DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE TERM POODLE X=99% OF THESE MIXES WILL SHED AND REQUIRE 3-4MONTHLY CLIPPING, SOME HAVE ENDED UP IN SHELTER BECAUSE OF THE SHEDDING.

BE RESPONSIBLE, ADOPT AND SAVE A LIFE, INSTEAD OF SUPPORT IRRESPONSIBLE BACKYARD AND PUPPY MILLER AS THESE ARE THE ONY "BREEDER" THAT BREED SUCH A MUTT
Most of these mixes will be easily found at shelter for around $300 or less. however you’ll pay 1500-2000, 3000 easily for a Labrador x poodle from a breeder, which is exessive for ANY mutt.

Scout, Bella, Sable, Reni, and Kara came in after they were found abandoned in a box on 4/9/09. They are 8-12 weeks old and all weigh about 7 lbs. We are really not sure what breed of dogs these little cuties will grow up to be, but right now they look like standard poodle/lab mixes

  1. K9-Karma Said,

    Try Kijiji.com or Craigslist.org

Contact rescue groups in your area and check local pounds and shelters.
I’ve seen so many Labradoodles and Goldendoodles there, because idiot buyers get them thinking they are hypoallergenic and don’t shed, until they learn the truth later in the dogs life, therefore giving them up.

Check shelters. You should not be paying more than $50 for a mixed breed dog. Labradoodles are not a breed.
The whole idea of mixing a Lab with a Poodle was started by a man named wally conron back in the 80’s. He was attempting to create a hypoallergenic breed of lab for service work. He was not able to successfully breed the hypoallergenic trait into the breed. Some will be, most won’t.

Yes, some breeds were created by mixing other dogs, but it took many many many generations of selective breeding for desired traits before they started showing up in the offspring. This is not the case with labradoodles. This is a money making scheme unscrupulous breeders use. These people are simply mixing two breeds, then asking for alot of money for them.
Lab/Poodle mixes have no standard appearance, coat, temperment or drives. They will have a random mix of both dogs, not necessarily the good traits. If they are second or third generation mixes, they will be more like one breed or the other.

I think there is a club for this cross breed. Contact the club and they will put you in contact with someone who breeds them.
I doubt you will get one for under $500 though. The breeders of this cross seem to ask a lot of $$$ for them. These dogs can’t be registered with AKC as they are not pure bred dogs.

You do realise that what they look like as pups has little bearing on how they will look as they mature. Some look more like Labs and some like Poodles. Some just look like shaggy cross breds. Some shed a lot and some don’t shed much but they need to be groomed if you happen on one that has poodle like long hair.

If you go the way of rescue you will usually find this cross in the pounds and shelters.

Other place sadly they are commonly found is petstore and NEVER ever buy from a petstore

I hope it’s clear that when you buy one of those cute puppies in the pet shop window, you buy more than the puppy. You buy the budding physical and behavioral problems created by the bad genes passed on by untested parents whom you never get to see and evaluate.
Worse than that, you buy into a profit-hungry industry that is hurting innocent animals. Simply out of good conscience, a pet shop should not be anyone’s choice as a source for a puppy.

Try your local shlether, they always have poodle mixes.
If not try ads in the paper.

Your local shelter of course! There are many located in rescue groups all under the $300 mark at that also.
The last thing you want to do is buy for someone claiming to "breed" them. This is horrible support, the type that kills many of our other deserving pound dogs every year.

    Try http://www.petfinder.com/ .
There are loads of wonderful Labby x Poodles looking for loving homes.

Why would you pay for a mutt from a breeder? Only backyard breeders breed mutts and then tack ridiculous ‘designer dog’ names onto them as if they were an actual breed. Please don’t support these irresponsible breeders by lining their pockets with your money. If you want a mixed breed/mutt look no further than your local shelter. Instead of getting scammed, you can adopt a mix (possibly even the type you were looking for!) for far cheaper… and save a life doing so.
